Hey guys. My download speed is extremely slow. like actually really wearisome. but my upload speed is ok. I just called my internet service provider and they said I seem to be getting normal speed which is l mb/southward but when I run tests it shows a ridiculous 993 kb/south download speed and a normal 2.2 mb/s upload speed. I have a ps4 connected via ethernet cable and iphone using wifi both indicatin very similar reaults. btw the router is huawei hg658c v2.

any idea what's going on?

Has the download always been slow or did this just start out of the blue? Did yous change anything around the time this started?

I presume y'all have tried bandwidth tests from a couple different places(speedtest.net, speedtest.googlefiber.net, DSLReports, etc) and all show the same issue. Exercise yous have any other devices on the network that you tin exam with? Assuming all device testify the same result (which I would expect since the PS4 and iPhone already do) and since your Internet service provider has run basic tests on your line, and then I call back the culprit is about likely the router (or modem, if you take one).

Router issues tin be software or hardware. If it'southward hardware, then replacement is the just real option. Uncomplicated software faults tin be corrected by restarting the router. The next footstep up is a factory reset (make certain to annotation any special settings, passwords, etc because they volition be reset). If that doesn't piece of work, I would test with another router ... maybe something that can be easily returned if the issue ends upward something else. Was your router provided by your ISP? What is their replacement policy if a router is faulty?

Hi again. I recently got the router. it's new but the issue has been around for a while.

I use the modem provided past the isp and I didn't change anything. I tried resetting the modem but naught changed. I did exam the connectedness using a dissimilar device but the outcome is the aforementioned.

two Routers doing the same thing makes me wonder most the modem (especially at present that i know you have one) ... have you lot ever plugged a device directly into the modem and tested that style? Most modems have admin page that y'all can log into ... have you always looked at that to see what your connectedness statistics are?

Past all those metrics, your line is great. It has to be something wrong with the modem or the Ethernet line you are using to connect to information technology. Ask your ISP what their policy is on replacing modems. I recall they should do it free, but not all ISPs agree with me.

I guess that'south my just choice. so nosotros agree that at that place's no trouble with the line or the cables between the primary box and my router. it has to be the modem. Cheers anotherdrew! I really appreciate it.
